Online Classes are Useless and Universities Should Stop Giving Them | Voice of a Pakistani Student

There is one thing, irritating me since this whole Corona-situation started. ONLINE CLASSES in Pakistan. Welcome to my website, today I will be sharing my thoughts on these “so-called” online classes. Being a student, I would like to tell my readers about my experience with online classes and I am telling you guys I am so frustrated right now.

Okay, so the story beings when I was living my happy and busy life with my loved ones. But suddenly this Corona Pandemic began and the Government of Pakistan, especially the Sindh government gave us vocations of about 3-months to avoid social contact with the outside of the world. I was happy at that moment. I was excited.

I started to think about managing my time. I needed this break to focus on myself. I couldn’t be happier. But one day, this happened.

“Dear Student, this is to inform you that your online class XYZ faculty ABC, has been scheduled on Monday 16th March 2020 at 8:40 AM via Zoom. Kindly install the software on your PC, smartphone, and tablet. The link will be provided through the SMS.”

Oh yeah, *WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?*

Voice of a Pakistani Student

At first, I was like ‘Yo man! great I have never been to an online class I think this is going to be fun’ but it turned out to be a complete disaster like if somebody just smashed my head with a hammer. To be very honest, even right now I can not understand their concept of giving these classes.

There are hundreds of students complaining about internet issues, load shedding, weak university’s WIFI connections, and several other issues. But it seems like the university’s management has sworn not to cancel these “so-called” classes, cause they care about their money more than anything. They should understand that we’re living in Pakistan with minimum facilities and maximum efforts.

Going Back to my experience, I was sitting there early in the morning installing Zoom software and setting up my stuff as I was a little excited, wanting to explore this new thing (online class) like how it works and understanding the features of the software. I was in a complete mess, I did not even brush my teeth neither I freshened up, cause that’s me!

Universities should stop giving online classes - voice of a pakistani student

Once everything was settled down, meeting on Zoom started and here we go. Suddenly my elder brother came into my room and asked me “Aren’t you supposed to be with the family at breakfast today?” I said, ‘yeah, just coming after my online class is over’ He gave me this look, yeah that look when somebody wants you to do something and you’re not doing it. Because in desi families we’re supposed to eat meals together and spend some quality time with the family members that’s how it works no?

I hope you understand what has happened next (hehehe). When I was done with the breakfast and family time my class was OVER.

All I am saying is, universities can cancel this semester and promote every student to the next, no? After all, this Coronavirus situation is natural and it’s dangerous for everyone. If universities could skip this semester many problems of students will be resolved. The educational minister should understand that there’s a great difference between going to the institute and taking an online class.

Universities Should Stop Giving Them

They should know that understanding the concepts of the subject is very much important for a student. Our education system should understand the value of real knowledge and education.

Maybe I am wrong, maybe I am right. But, ReadaZon is the only platform where I can share my thoughts with you guys. I was frustrated about this issue, that’s why I decided to write.

Now the question is, did I take another online class after that? No, I DID not. First, the timing of my classes are in the morning, and due to some reasons, I can not take morning classes.

Online Classes are Useless

Perhaps going to the institute would be nicer rather than sitting at the home and looking at the screen when you’re living in a desi environment. Cause If I did ‘unmute’ myself during an online session my mother’s voice would be coming from the background probably calling me to make some tea for my father or brothers.

Humiliated, hilarious, frustrated, distracted, depressed all at the same time when taking an online class and it makes me so angry about the university’s management and on myself sometimes. If you want to see my disappointed look just say ‘ONLINE CLASS’ (sarcasm).

Final words of today’s article, online classes are useless and universities should stop giving them. Thank you so much for reading this. If you also think the same or feeling depressed about this issue do let me know in the comments below. Feel free to share your thoughts.

  1. ONLINE CLASS! (Just kidding)…

WHY SO SERIOUS NIGGA! Take a chill, get me some tea dear. Your brother read this whole article after all.

The University system is a piece of trash in my opinion, at least in PAKISTAN. Just think of it like, the whole book compiled in 20 slides! You kidding me… huh!

DEAR TEACHERS, WE RESPECT YOU, at least don’t spoil the word TEACHER & our faith that we learn from you. If you don’t know how to cover the syllabus from a book, slides aren’t enough.

Being a teacher is a big responsibility, you can’t run away from, you know why because the entire class is dependant upon your teachings, not just the syllabus but the character of the students lies what you teach them today.

    Regards,
    A Dropout! Sick & Tired.

  3. As I read your whole article and I found a few things that must you know before sharing these type of article.

Are an Online classes kidding? If it is! why lots of peoples are sharing the notes, books, chapters, and more on youtube? What do you think that the online classes just kidding? Have you ever focused on what the teacher teaches at that moment? Obviously no?

Have you ever focused on how the teacher do hard work for you?
Does a teacher not have their own family?

You can blame on University, not on the teacher.

Be a student, you must respect your teacher as much as possible.

I am also against Online classes but in this article you over.

I will update it after collecting more points!

    Thanks anyway!

    1. First, I haven’t said anything against teachers. Secondly, If Online classes are that much fun then why are we paying a high amount of money to the University? If we can study from YouTube then why bothering going to the institute? I am completely against this whole so-called Online classes. Teachers are definitely working so hard but it’s the management that is not understanding the difficulties we (students) are facing right now.
      Thanks btw!
