Hey there! One of the recent books I’ve just finished reading is ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini’, and I found it so fascinating artwork of Khaled Hosseini. I haven’t read his novels but this one really got my heart. The most gripping story you would love to read so far.
I would like to begin with the introduction of the author Khaled Hosseini. He is an Afghan-American novelist and Physician. He worked as a doctor in California after graduating from college. His debuted novel was in 2003 ‘The Kite Runner’ and he has published 3 novels since then, in all of three novels he has featured Afghanistan as Protagonist. He became a full-time writer after the biggest success of ‘The Kite Runner’ that made him quit medicine.
Khaled Hosseini was born in Kabul, Afghanistan. His family was moved to France when Hosseini was 11 years old. His father worked as a diplomat and four years later, they applied for a shelter in US and Hosseini later became a US citizen. Khaled never returned to Afghanistan until 2001, he also admitted in interviews that sometimes he feels tremendous survivor’s guilt for having been able to leave the country before the American invasion and subsequent wars.
He is the author of ‘The Kite Runner (2003)’, ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns (2007)’, ‘The Mountains Echoed (2013)’. All three of his novels became bestsellers.

Mariam is an illegitimate child of a well-known businessman named Jalil. He owns a Cinema and lives in Herat with his other three wives and many children while Mariam lives with her mother on a deserted place some kilometers away from Herat. She waits for her father impatiently to visit her on every Thursdays. After the death of her mother, she was forced to marry Rasheed, a shoemaker who is 30 years older than her.
Laila is a beautiful and intelligent girl coming from a family in which the father is university-educated and a teacher. Hosseini states that compared to Mariam, Laila “had a much more fulfilling relationship with her father, her boyfriends and her childhood friend, Tariq. She expected to finish school and is looking for personal fulfillment. These are two very different representations of women.” Her life becomes tied to Mariam’s when she becomes the second wife of Rasheed, Mariam’s husband.
A Thousand Splendid Suns is a tragic tale of two generations brought together by the sweep of war, where personal lives. The struggle to survive, raise a family, find happiness is tangled from the history playing out around them. A breath-taking novel by Khaled Hosseini you would really love to read.
Quotes from the book:

Or the thousand splendid suns that hide behind her walls.” ~A Thousand Splendid Suns

“Perhaps this is just punishment for those who have been heartless, to understand only when nothing can be undone.” ~A Thousand Splendid Suns
This was the best novel I ever read, I would recommend this to you as well. At the end of today’s article, Thank you so much for your attention. I wish I could describe the whole novel but I can not do that, because its best to read a book physically, not on a computer’s screen. Take Care~
